Under the guidance of the innovation-driven development strategy, to cultivate new-era engineers with noble character, innovative thinking, and solid professional skills, the School of Computer Science at South-Central Minzu University successfully held a unique course ideology observation class on September 9, 2024. In the afternoon, during periods 7 and 8, in classroom 304 of Building 11, Teacher Min Lei taught a course ideology demonstration observation class for "Mechanical Design" to students from Class 01 and 02 of the 2021 Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation major. Young teachers from the School of Computer Science, such as Wanxin Hu and Feiyu Zhao, attended to observe and exchange ideas.
The purpose of this event was to deeply integrate ideological and political education into the mechanical design professional courses, explore new pathways for "course ideology," guide students to establish correct worldviews, outlooks on life, and values, and stimulate their patriotic feelings and passion for scientific and technological innovation.
The main knowledge point of this observation class was the constraints in mechanical design. Teacher Lei ingeniously combined mechanical design knowledge with ideological elements such as national major engineering cases, the spirit of craftsmen, and the spirit of scientific and technological innovation. In the fatigue strength knowledge point, he used the "German ICE high-speed train accident" to let students deeply understand the importance of scientific rigor; and combined with China's high-speed rail technology, to let students deeply understand that mechanical design is not only a display of technology but also a manifestation of national strength and national spirit.
In the classroom, Teacher Lei adopted a problem-oriented interactive teaching model, guiding students to discuss issues such as "How to integrate green design concepts into mechanical design" and "How mechanical design can help the country achieve its 'dual carbon' goals" through social constraints in mechanical design.
